Is Enchanted Tiki Room Worth Your Time?

For most folks, Enchanted Tiki Room at the Magic Kingdom is kind of a tough sell. Let’s be honest – fifteen minutes of animatronic birds singing Polynesian-flavored tunes doesn’t exactly jump off the page as a must-see. That said, I nearly always recommend Tiki Room to anyone visiting the Magic Kingdom for a couple of reasons…

Enchanted Tiki Room is one of those attractions that is as classic Disney as they come. What I mean is, there’s a simplicity in the show that doesn’t require a convoluted explanation…and is actually better off for it. You’re simply in a room with talking birds and that’s perfectly acceptable and rather…magical.

It doesn’t really matter who you are, I don’t see how you can possibly leave the show without humming the title track. It’ll stick with you for the days, weeks, years, and possibly the rest of your life. Seriously, “It’s a Small World’ gets a lot of play, but I think “In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Room…” is actually more of an earworm than the former.

Finally, there’s a part toward the end of the show (spoiler-alert) where the birds manage to conjure a tropical rain shower. While it’s a simple effect (theatrical layering), it may be the most effective feel-inducing moments of any show in Walt Disney World. For a brief moment, you really feel like you’ve left the the mean streets of Magic Kingdom and journeyed to magical Polynesia.

So yeah, I think it’s worth your time. I mean, if nothing else, where else can you experience fifteen minutes of animatronic birds singing Polynesian-flavored tunes?
